The Legend
The Galtzagorriak can be kept inside boxes, bags, or any vessel sealed with the proper words. There they wait dormant, still as stones, until their owner calls them by speaking the words of command. But the container must remain closed whenever they are not in use.
These boxes passed from generation to generation as a dangerous family inheritance. A father might leave his Galtzagorriak to a favored child, together with the exact instructions for use and the secret command words. It was a valuable legacy, but a perilous one for anyone unable to control it.
One family from Bermeo possessed a box of Galtzagorriak for five generations. No one had opened it for decades, fearing what might have grown inside over so much time. The instructions had been lost, and fear kept every hand away from the sealed container.
One day a curious grandson broke the seal despite every warning. They say he found the box empty, yet from that very night strange things began to happen in the neighboring village. The Galtzagorriak had escaped, and no one knows now whom they serve or what mischief they are plotting.
